History.

OMNIconnect Head OfficeOMNIconnect received its official title in 1997 as a Licensed Telecommunications Carrier and Internet Service Provider based in Melbourne, Australia.

OMNI started out as a means to provide faster Internet services to businesses that were using ISDN or other means by offering wireless microwave transmission as an alternative. This grew into creating an expansive wireless, fibre and DSL network throughout Australia. It also led to the development of several Data Centres around Melbourne.

OMNIconnect's wireless network now spans a vast area of Victoria from the Grampians, Ballarat and Bendigo right into the heart of Melbourne's CBD and continuing on to South Gippsland. A portion of this network has been built as part of a government initiative to provide broadband services to remote locations. As such, our customer base includes residential, small to large businesses, government and education sectors.

Location.

OMNIconnect's principal offices are located in Carrum Downs, Victoria, which houses their primary Data Centre. In addition to this, OMNIconnect have long-term lease agreements for other properties in Melbourne CBD that house their data centres and roof space for microwave transmission.

OMNIconnect Data Centre Australia Strategically located 35Km outside of the CBD risk zone, the OMNIconnect Data Centre (OCDC provides an ideal disaster recovery centre due to it's diverse network paths, multi-homed Internet and easy access to the city via the newly constructed Eastlink freeway.

Promoted as a ‘boutique’ data centre because of its footprint, innovation, and niche customer base, the OCDC is strategically located 35km outside of the CBD ‘risk zone’. Due to its diverse network paths from fibre (Optus and Telstra) and microwave (OMNIconnect), the OCDC provides an ideal disaster recovery centre while still providing fast and easy access from the city via the newly constructed EastLink freeway, and the soon to be completed Peninsula Freeway.

As one of the newest data centres in Australia, the OCDC was built to be environmentally responsible by choosing ‘green’ technologies including efficient fresh air economised cooling, and its own rainwater collection and filtration system.

The OCDC is secured by RFID readers and biometric locks on all doors together with a spiked 2.4m full perimeter fence and gates. Access is always escorted by OMNIconnect staff to provide our customers with the security they require. Remotely accessible security surveillance cameras are installed at all points of egress/ingress.

Environment.

As part of our hosting environment, all hosted services are supported by redundant air conditioning systems, and UPS power systems that are backed by two diesel generators to allow complete autonomy should a power grid failure occur. The hosting centre has 24 x 7 security measures, which includes restricted pin code entry and escorted access with remotely viewable surveillance cameras throughout the premises.
